Why do you need to see a consultant? (on the other hand it's already 17th June and less than half a month isn't all *that* long to wait if you're not in pain/otherwise feeling awful)

I've been off work a few weeks already because something in my lungs started rattling every time I breathed - and since it stopped rattling I haven't been able to breathe properly to the point that if I take a ten minute gentle walk I'm out of breath for the next fifteen minutes (statistics as of my visit to the GP surgery yesterday).

The GPs haven't got a clue. (They are so clueless that they keep telling me it's viral and then prescribing antibiotics). That's why I've been referred to a respiratory consultant. Who can't see me before July...
